Hymetta distincta
Described from KS; probably introduced with grapes from the west. This species has a wider, darker band across the wings than in H. balteata, and the faint stripe at the wing tip is transverse rather than oblique.

distincta or anthisma?
Based on your ID of this image
and a little online investigation, I believe you meant
H. anthisma
, color form
distincta
, so I've changed the name in the guide. Please let us know if that was incorrect.

Not easy...
Before I requested the guide page, I had asked about the name of this species with Dr. Hamilton, related to the syn. of
distincta
to
anthisma
.
I think it is better to create a separate guide page for
anthisma
at the current stage.

I emailed Dr. Hamilton yesterday...
...and asked: "Is there a species called
Hymetta distincta
, or is that just a form of
H. anthisma
?" He responded: "A recent treatment recognizes it as just a color form." So placing
distincta
within
anthisma
seems to be the way to go.

Thank you, Dr. Hamilton!
Two species are very similar...
I hope someone makes a new guide page for this species.
