Eleodes suturalis
I think it is Eleodes suturalis; an Eleodes for sure.

Darkling beetle.
This is a darkling beetle in the family Tenebrionidae, probably genus Eleodes. Not all of them do the "headstand" behavior when disturbed, but that is a fairly good clue for the genus. They tend to hide in abandoned rodent burrows by day. Lay an oatmeal trail and go over it at night if you want to see more, and more variety of species and genera.
