Ant mimic.
I believe these are actually ant mimics. They sure look devious when they rub their front feet together:-) This might be Taeniaptera trivittata, one of the more common eastern species.

Neat, look at this key?
Very interesting, thanks. Good point about ant mimicry--I'll change the guide. Look at this document: Micropezidae of California. It has a key (p. 4) to subfamilies and genera--I don't know if it applies outside of California.

1. Bases of antennae approximate. Male claspers variable, often greatly enlarged.-->2
Bases of antennae well separated. (Compare this photo.) Male claspers inconspicuous. Ovipositor broad on basal one-third, then tapering to slender apical one-third (fig. 4), (Compare other photo of this individual.) -->Subfamily Taenipterinae, genus Taeniaptera Macquart.

That's how I read it, for what that's worth. Genus Taeniaptera looks likely to me, again, for what that's worth!
