Was climbing up the bark of a narrowleaf cottonwood. Put out the yellow antenae when we tried to encourage it to move a bit more into the sun for photos.

Pine Moth
It looks to me like a pine moth, there are 4 fairly simliar species in the genus Coloradia.

 
Not an ID but maybe

This is most likely Coloradia pandora, although the other subspecies and another species in this genus in NM are similar.
