Identification. Chrysoperla carnea does not occur in North America. It is a European member of a sibling species complex that contains several other species in North America. Some of the members of this complex are only differentiatable on the basis of "songs" (abdominal tremulation patterns), and are not distinguishable on any known morphological grounds.
