Banasa?
Found on ocean beach.

Yes.
Banasa euchlora to be precise.

Thanks. Thought so, but wanted to be sure because of range extension in BG.

Range extension?
If it's on an ocean beach, couldn't it have come from almost anywhere? (I shoot at a small agricultural area next to a rail road track and often wonder about the original source of some of my finds there.)

BTW, I'm very impressed with the wealth and variety of insects you've posted from oceanside.

In BG this species was not listed for NY State and nothing south of it on the East Coast. This beach faces south (you can see NJ) and is near the southern end of NY. My assumption is that most of the insects have flown up the NJ coast from the south to land on the first available piece of land in NY. Many of the things that I found there have more southern ranges.
Another thing about the beach is that you never have host plants to be concerned with. Conversely, no help due to this lack.
I'm still working through material from May 27th. A spectacular day, and I was only looking for about 90 minutes. I think that a cold front with heavy rain overnight grounded a lot of things that morning. Can't wait for next May.
Often the insects are so close to the water that you have to grab them in between waves before they get washed away. In October there were Ichneumons in this same situation.

Thanks for providing this interesting info.
