Southern Flannel Moth - Megalopyge opercularis

Southern Flannel Moth - Megalopyge opercularis
DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
November 19, 2008
Added note: I guess the first image of the cocoon was too new to show the "bump." As the "shrink-wrap" cured, the bump and a ridge became more pronounced. Are the spines on the cocoon still capable of delivering a sting? These are on a wall along a walkway leading to a nursery and playground.
