Is this a Moth? - Eichlinia cucurbitae

Is this a Moth? - Eichlinia cucurbitae
Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
July 12, 2005
This creature has been flying around my butterfly bush for the past few days.
I haver never seen anything like it before.
someone suggested it may be a moth.

2536 - Squash Vine Borer Moth - Melittia cucurbitae
...and a really nice photo. The loss of the heavily scaled left leg doesn't seem to be hindering it. Please contact me at BPatter789@aol.com if I may have permission to display your moth photos, and especially this one, on plates at Moth Photographers Group.

Yes
It's a clearwing moth. Family Sesiidae. It appears to be a Melittia species, as those are the only ones in The Moth Book by WJ Holland that have the feathery red hind legs.
