south Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
October 3, 2008
At lights in a small mesic patch under an oak-willow canopy...

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

Can't see
Facial or abdominal details but this appears to be a Heteropogon species. Several to choose from in Austin.

2-3 spp. of Haplopogon on UT, Austin list...
Thanks, 2 to 3 spp. are listed from UT, Austin's Field Station

Haplopogon near lautus
Heteropogon lautus
Heteropogon n. sp. 1
.

Heteropogon
H. lautus and H. johnsoni are in the area. It does not appear to be the other TX species, H. patruelis and H. phoenicurus. Not sure what new species 1 is, as there are no newly described species after 1991 (date of that list).
