I know what it is
The eucnemid in question is Dromaeolus badius (Melsheimer). That is a new state record for North Dakota.

I have one other specimen in this family that I am sure is a different species, I will get it imaged next week and perhaps you may be able to help. There are virtually no eucnemid specimens in the state insect collection in Fargo to compare to, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

yes I thought the overall look was different, thanks for the correction..I made the change above from Elateridae and will leave for a bit to see if anyone else can poke it out further
