Millipede Mania - Apheloria tigana

Millipede Mania - Apheloria tigana
Marion, Smyth County, Virginia, USA
May 12, 2005
Size: 2.5 inches
This little millipede was heading toward my garden, but took a shortcut across my porch, just as I was going out to look under the carpet I mentioned in the other pic. This one was pale as well, I have only seen about 5 with the bright colors like the bigger one I submitted. This is a large photo, dial-up might have a hard time with it, but it is a nice close-up for all macro-lovers.

Linking
Great photos. However, they should only be linked if they are of the same millipede. I've unlinked them for you.

Thanks, I was short one mind when I put them on!
Yeah, I was fighting to keep my eyes open by the time I got these on the site, I did't even think about them being different, as obvious as it is. lol. :)Thanks again.

I believe we've
found an ID for these black millipedes with yellow legs. Compare with image here. And thanks to padkison and Dr. Rowland Shelley at the NC museum of Life science for IDing our first one here.
