Caterpillar - Tyria jacobaeae

Caterpillar - Tyria jacobaeae
Mary's Peak/Mtn, Benton County, Oregon, USA
July 29, 2007
Size: 1" +/-
Found in a heavily forested area with mixed broadleaf (maple, alder, etc) & conifer trees.

Was there invasive Tansy Ragwort nearby?
This looks to be Tyria jacobaeae - Cinnabar Moth, info in the guide here

Possibly
There could have been & judging by the info I'm betting it was somewhere (either that or they have developed a taste for other plants). If I remember correctly I found the little guy on the side of the road. I'd have to check to see if there is any next spring.
Thanks
