Ant like bug identify -
Hyalymenus tarsatus
Austin, Texas, USA

Size: 1/2"
Large "ant" like bug sitting on a crete myrtle leaf. Note, has a straw like attachment on its mouth. Photo taken in the morning using reverse lens mount.

Super cool!
Great photo, of a really weird bug. I'd love to see one of those some day! Also a good catch recognizing that it isn't an ant, since the mimicry is pretty convincing. It is a broad-headed bug (family Alydidae) in the genus
