Pond Skater - Aquarius remigis - Male

Size: 13 mm
Keyed this to Gerris remigis from Gerridae of Oregon and Washington The 1st antennal segment is equal to or slightly longer than the 2nd and 3rd combined like most Gerris species. Size separates this species from other Gerris species- it is generally larger (12-15 mm). Colour of the specimen is blackish (the side-shot photo looks brown due to some overexposure)and the wings on this one are reduced.
