Yellowjackets - Vespula flavopilosa

Yellowjackets - Vespula flavopilosa
South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA
August 26, 2008
In ground nest.

Great!
Great to have a shot of their nest. I myself have never personally seen a nest, and there seem to be few images of them out there too.

Downy Yellowjacket (Vespula flavopilosa) - workers
These two workers have only a very faint black stripe on the clypeus. But color pattern of the gaster leaves no other possibility.
