Water strider? What kind? - Limnoporus canaliculatus

Water strider? What kind? - Limnoporus canaliculatus
Baton Rouge - BREC Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
December 12, 2008
Size: about 1 inch
Surprised to find any bugs in the swamp today.
30 degF at sunrise today.
2 inches of snow yesterday.
55-60 degF this afternoon when photos taken.
Resting on a sprig of cypress needles.
Quite sure it is a water strider.
Is is it possible to know what type of water strider?
