Mating Carolina Grasshoppers - Dissosteira carolina - male - female

Mating Carolina Grasshoppers - Dissosteira carolina - Male Female
Rush, Monroe County, New York, USA
August 16, 2008
I believe these are Carolina grasshoppers. Although they are very common, BugGuide.net does not currently seem to have a photo of a mating pair. In my experience, they are literally very jumpy and hard to photograph unless they are preoccupied with an activity such as mating or egg laying. This couple held very still for me.
