Chironomus? - male

Chironomus? - Male
Antelope Island, Davis County, Utah, USA
October 8, 2008
When I first saw this all I could do was stare. I thought it was a midge but it was a BIG midge. It puts all the other midges on the island to shame when it comes to size. I think with the long front legs and frizzy hair it looks most like the Chironomus. Any ideas?

Moved from Midges.

Chironominae
He belongs to subfamily Chironominae(1). I don't know genus, at least not yet.
