Large Rove Beetle - Tasgius

Large Rove Beetle - Tasgius
University of Guelph, Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
November 4, 2008
Size: 17 mm
Found this large rove running across a concrete wall. Not sure if it's Ocypus or Tasgius - probably the latter?

Thanks Adam
Good to hear from you, and thanks for confirming this rove. It stood out since until now I haven't seen such a large Tasgius.
Happy holidays, and see you next year!

The great flood of Tasgius
Hi Stephen,

This is a species of Tasgius, these introduced rove beetles can be seen every fall in great numbers on campus on sidewalks...I think they are seeking out overwintering sites around Guelph. Hope you are enjoying your holidays, I'll see you in the lab in the new year,

Cheers,
Adam
