Hickory horned devil - Citheronia regalis
Sanford, Chatham County, North Carolina, USA

This hickory horned devil (Citheronia regalis) was found feeding on sassafrass. I watched him for a couple of days and he barely moved. By the third day he was gone. I think he might have dropped to the ground to pupate. I wish I had thought to measure him.
