I almost didn't see this one. See the other photo of the camouflage. He seems to know what surface is safe!

I agree with Bob.....that this moth is Acronicta americana (9200).

A. grisea is a Northern Species.........
.... which Covell credits as far south as Connecticut. I think this is a fairly typical American Dagger Moth, Acronicta americana, Hodges 9200.

ID Correction
Covell plate 17 #3 is the American Dagger Moth but shows a white row of cells in the FW about 2/3 from the body. This specimen does not have this feature. Your expertise is appreciated. When I spread this specimen, a better look will help in ID. Based on Covell's range for the grisea, FL is not a likely bet for its habitat. Thankss!
