Bumble Bee - Bombus pensylvanicus - female

Bumble Bee - Bombus pensylvanicus - Female
Henryetta, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, USA
July 19, 2005
I have always called large black and yellow bees "bumble bees", but I know that there are several kinds of large black and yellow bees.
Can we tell which this is?
Also yesterday afternoon I saw one of these bees fly to a frostweed plant and come to rest under one of the leaves( the plant was in the shade). It preened and then rested.
I did not stay around to see how long.
The bees collect pollen untill after sunset.

Moved
Moved from Bumble Bees.

B. pensylvanicus
This is Bombus (Fervidobombus) pensylvanicus
