Size: 12 mm
These were common in my yard in early summer. They liked to land on me.

Diurnal firefly, by appearance. We have at least two large species which I can't tell apart.

ID confirmed. Adults can glow when freshly eclosed, although this ability is lost soon after. Your other image shows the small light organs.
