Size: ca. 1.12mm
A composite image from the same frame. The leaf had dried and the gall opened. These were found inside.

Questions...
The gall opened in a longitudinal crack rather than a circular hole, correct? Also, was this a typical sized gall, or was there a range, and were there generally several per leaf or just one? Just making sure it's not something else...

Added image
of an opening on another gall. This was the typical size, some smaller. One per leaf, a few with two or three. The insects were removed from an unopened gall that had dried up and manually opened (crushed). Might be able to revisit the site later this year.
