Small green leafhopper, 2:27pm - Diplocolenus evansi
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
June 27, 2008
Size: 3.5mm
This was the only leafhopper different from others nearby, I was pond-dipping near stream when my water-filled container was being filled with "suicidal" leafhoppers which all jumped in. The grass was full of them, one step revealed over 12 flying away. I managed to rescue this one from the water.

Moved from Diplocolenus.

Diplocolenus evansi
I'm taking a guess here that the face is black; if it's brown, then it is one of several species of Sorhoanus. D. (Verdanus) evansi is extremely common in northern localities; one collection of 100 sweeps (about 2 minutes' work) in Alaska turned up 4000 specimens!

Im pretty certain it was black.
It hopped away too quick to get any other photos.
