lance fly?

lance fly?
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
July 26, 2008
Size: approx 1/4 inch
The image of the fly came out looking just about as black as the fly looked in person. From what I've seen in the guide, I'd guess it's a Lance Fly. Corrections welcome.

not a lance fly
from the complete transverse suture on the thorax and the size, it's probably a muscid. it's definitely some calyptrate fly.
