spider - Argiope trifasciata

spider - Argiope trifasciata
Boynton Beach; Arthur R. Marshall Wildlife Preserve, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
November 15, 2008
Size: 3 inches
As the spider was feasting on the butterfly a honeybee was caught in the web. The spider dropped the butterfly, and raced across the web. Before I could focus on the bee he had the him wrapped up tight. This is the only other angle I could get. The web was over mostly open swamp water, which is not a great place to be in South Florida. I hope this angle will help with the identification. I think the butterfly is a Viceroy - Limentis archippus???????
