Atta sp. - Acromyrmex versicolor

Atta sp. - Acromyrmex versicolor
Upper Sonoran Desert, Gila County, Arizona, USA
October 1, 2008
New to the Sonoran Desert, I just wanted to confirm that these are indeed harvester ants, because the symmetrical cones they build around their holes I could not find associated with harvester ants. Located in the Tonto Basin at 2896', mid-day, 95 deg. F.
