Red Oak Borer - Enaphalodes rufulus

Red Oak Borer - Enaphalodes rufulus
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
July 6, 2005
Size: 30 mm
Detail of antenna, showing spines, a characteristic of this subfamily (Cerambycinae), I believe.

Refer to the description of genus Enaphalodes at the Genera of Elaphidiini site: ... mesal antennal spines present... antennomere three of males and most females about two-thirds length of pronotum.

(Antennomere three looks to be about half length of pronotum here--perhaps a female? Again, I'm trying to understand identification of these things--I'm not an expert.)
