Chestnut Crescent - Anthanassa argentea - Male
Bentsen State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA

Found by Mike Rickard shortly before the butterfly walk reached the gardens. Unfortunately, out of the 20 or so shots I took, they were all basically this pose. Don't think I ever saw the underside.

Congratulations...
...on adding the first image of this species to the guide. A very nice photo as well! Any idea what type of plant it is perched on?

thanks
Unfortunately I don't know the plant. Mike's post about it mentions Blue Boneset (Eupatorium coelestinum) which looks about right with a quick image search. Maybe Josh Rose, who was leading the walk, will happen across this as he probably knows each plant in the garden.

To correct myself...
Happened to be exchanging emails with Mike, so I asked him. Blue Boneset is still the correct common name, but it's E. azureum.

...
Thanks for the info, Jason!
