Moved from Cockroaches.

This is an adult female of Blatta lateralis, the Turkistan Roach, in the family Blattidae. It was introduced by the military from the Middle East and Asia to Southern California and has spread east at least as far as Texas. They aren't that well known in the states but they seem to be a pretty common pest in the Southwest. In El Paso, I see them more often than American or German cockroaches. The males look like a smaller adult Periplaneta that is orange/brown all over. The female looks like an Orietal roach with small wing buds that have a white line on the outer edge.

Ye gads! They like the same things I do!
