Southern emerald moth - Synchlora frondaria - female

Southern emerald moth - Synchlora frondaria - Female

Attracted to our porch light... I can't tell the difference between Wavy-lined emerald and Southern emerald .

Southern...
From what I can deduce after scouring professional moth expert websites, the southern emerald has more jagged AM and PM lines than the wavy-lined emerald (more curved lines might be a better way to describe it). I realize this goes against any rational thinking, but that's what these websites have stated. So that makes this one a southern emerald and a female as well. This also means, of course, that many of these moths have probably been misidentified in this guide.

Very interesting.
Thanks so much for the information. Maybe someone should add it to the guide page for Synchlora?
