Tragidion agave Swift & Ray, 2008 - Tragidion agave - Male
NE of Wilcox, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
Size: 22 mm
I was disappointed to see that Ian had done away with the subspecies designation in Tragidion armatum. I always felt that my specimens from AZ were quite distinct from those in CA. When I ran them through the new key I found that they are distinct, and represent the new species T. agave. Note the brown legs and antennae and the slightly recurved pronotal spine. Notice also how the tip of the elytral flatten out a bit. On T. armatum the tip is nearly vertical. You see this in both male and female.
