Nope it is n accidental intro
Nope it is n accidental introduction. These flies live in decaying plant material and this species is widespread throughout the Oriental region and also found in Madagascar (where I think it might also be introduced by human activity). The first specimens were found in Virginia and the publication should be out very soon. So this is an important range extension of this species in the US! I would like to see specimens so that I could confirm the identification. The only other Microchrysa in the US have metallic green abdomen, but there are some South American species with yellow abdomen in the male...
