Size: 2-3 cm
This wasp had just finished covering up her hole, note the depression she is standing on. It as a rather nice thing to watch!

Thread-waisted Wasp (Ammophila sp., Sphecidae) - female
ID to the species level is difficult at this magnification, but maybe a North-American expert will be able to do it.
