Size: ~10mm total length.
Seen on
Arctostaphylos tomentosa crustacea
in our yard. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

This is not the easiest pic to make an ID from, but Bombylius major is one of the only CA bee flies out in January and it loves Arctostaphylos.
