How about Hemaris diffinis?
We don't find any images of H.thysbe with those large black dots.

Maybe-but the adult didn't look like that either-it was brownish red with clear wings-but they can vary I assume. I've seen what look like 3 different species in the general area.

and it does look it most of the images of the Snowberry Clearwing
Hummingbird Moths catarpillars I've looked at just now-I'm not sure where I got the original ID from-but that was last year.

I'll figure it out eventually-I'm still having trouble adding images-it took me 5 tries to get the purple caterpillar on here last night.
