Brachynemurus sp male - male

Brachynemurus sp male - Male
Borrego Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
October 14, 2003
Size: 22-24 mm to wing tip
This Brachynemurus sp male was on a plant at the Borrego Sink. I wrote in my field book that the plant was Russian Thistle, but I was wrong. The plant is probably one of the many salt-loving plants in the Goosefoot Family (Chenopodiaceae) that thrive in the alkali Sink.
