Firefly larva?

Firefly larva?
Baton Rouge - BREC Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
February 7, 2009
Size: about 3/4 inch
After reading Carmen's note, I decided to return to the Hackberry tree the next day (2/8/09).
There was a firefly larva wandering about within a foot or two of the one in the first image.
I was able to get shots of the head and tail.
It uses the tail as an important part of its locomotion.
It seems to have a powerful hind foot, somewhat like a caterpillar.
I will include two more images of this individual - a close-up of the head and a close-up of the tail.

Please note that this is not the same individual as shown in the first image.
That individual is in the same place and position as yesterday.
Presumably, getting ready to pupate (?).

Several individuals were located on the same tree trunk.
Within a few feet of each other.
They are believed to be the same species.
