Window Fly - Scenopinus - male

Window Fly - Scenopinus - Male
Atlantic Mine, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
May 23, 2008
Size: 6 mm
These were flying around our house last spring in late May/early June. The large, connected eyes lead me to believe this is a male, I also have pictures of a female where the eyes are not connected. I think this is a syrphid fly, not sure which one though.

Moved
Moved from Window Flies.

probably Scenopinus
but I can't see the wing venation well enough to be certain.

Window Fly (Scenopinidae)
Wing venation and shape of antennae differ from any Syrphid Fly.
Genus Metatrichia is the only one on BG for now, but this doesn't mean this one Scenopinid actually belong to this genus. Advice of a Dipterist expert is needed.

Thank you!
In particular, thanks for pointing out that I should have been paying attention to the antenna shape.
