Horned Passalus pupa - Odontotaenius disjunctus

Horned Passalus pupa - Odontotaenius disjunctus
Parkwood, Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
September 4, 2005
Size: 32 mm
Despite this beetle being very common in my area, I have ripped apart many a log in search of larvae, but have never found any. I did find a couple of pupae once, and they certainly are wild-looking. They were inside the tunnels, associated with adults.
