Western Tailed-Blue, subspecies maritima - Cupido amyntula Wayerton, Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada June 14, 2007
The subspecies maritima of Cupido amyntula is apparently restricted to Maine, the Gaspé peninsula of Québec and New Brunswick, Canada with "most of its range found in New Brunswick (cf NatureServe, www.natureserve.org)...". It is typically very pale and chalky underneath, such as this individual...I believe also that Tom Murray photographed an individual of this subspecies in Pittsburg, Coos County, New Hampshire, which would be a significant range extension for this "rare subspecies"...
