Size: 10-12 mm
These exuviae were hanging in a dense group on the underside of a oak branch that had fallen across a very small, dry rocky stream bed in Madrean oak-pinyon-juniper woodland.

Not flies?
I am pretty sure those are the exuviae of that fungus beetle, Gibbifer californicus.
