Unknown Fly Species
Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas, USA
November 14, 2007
Found this little guy North of Rio Grande City, can't find anything in the guide... any ideas? Thanks

Bee Fly
While not an ID, check this one:

Odd
My first reaction was "a cross between a moth and a snipe fly."

Those antennae are like a Marsh Fly's.

Do you have a view of the wings from more above, to see all the veins?

Flower
Can't comment on the fly, but he's visiting a dayflower (Commelina sp.). It's probably the Asiatic dayflower (Commelina communis), but it's hard to tell without the bottom petal in view.
