Spider ID
Thank you, Rod and Lynette. Your assistance is much appreciated.
Any of you arachnid enthusiasts that are not familiar with Rod’s “Spider Collector’s Journal” are missing a real treat!
After perusing the journal, if you feel compelled to rush out into your neighborhood and photograph and identify 30 or 40 species of spiders, first read Rod’s superb but sobering account here, of the perils of oversimplifying the identification of these remarkable creatures.
If still undaunted, start shopping around for a good microscope and the associated equipment for dissecting and photographing the minute details necessary for accurate ID.
In the old days, I spent many a happy hour in the much less demanding dissection and study of the genitalia of micro moths. Spiders appear to be a bit more challenging!
