This is the first date for this happy couple.

I found the female on the brick wall near my front door lights about midnight July 16, and tried night after night to lure a male with my UV lights/moth sheet, the female in a cage (so her pheromones would be carried on the breeze) and a sugar lure. No luck.

About 7:30 this evening I went out to take down the moth sheet and lights for use elsewhere on the next hot, humid night, and there on the moth sheet skirt, lying on his back, was a live male who felt some strange compulsion to show up at that moment. He looked like he'd just collided with the sheet and hadn't righted himself yet.

Was he attracted by traces of the female's phermones on the sheet or by something else?

Anyway, I introduced the two and they wasted little time getting to know each other. Eggs and larvae can't be far off!
