Lucanus capreolus - female

Lucanus capreolus - Female
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 23, 2005
Size: 25 - 35 mm
I've been getting some good images using my macro ring flash attachment to shoot insects on my moth sheet. I have to take the headlamp off my head and shine it on the insect from the side in order to get the autofocus to lock onto the subject. The UV light is not sufficient to enable the autofocus to perform.
