Sawfly? - Nematus

Sawfly? - Nematus
Atlantic Mine, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
June 1, 2007
Size: 8 mm
We found these in significant numbers on the side of our house in late May/early June of 2007. I think they are some type of sawfly, but I'm not sure which. There is a large pine plantation just a few hundred feet from our house, if that helps.

Moved
Moved from Neodiprion.

Nematus sp.
Tenthredinidae: Nematinae. Neodiprion females have serrate multi-segmented antennae and different wing venation (hard to explain). This has slender 9-segmented antennae and the correct wing venation for Nematinae. This may be a species on willows.
