Flower Beetle in Anza-Borrega - Eupompha elegans

Flower Beetle in Anza-Borrega - Eupompha elegans
Anza-Borrega State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
February 28, 2009
Size: ~1cm
Found this one in what I think was Desert Sunflower, Geraea canescens; but I'm not sure about that. In any case the area was a relatively green and blooming section of the Anza-Borrega Desert.

Its elegans -
E. elegans elegans, a form from Borrego and nearby.

Blister beetle.
Family is Meloidae, not sure which genus.

must be Eupompha elegans
