Collembola - Proisotoma minuta

Collembola - Proisotoma minuta
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
March 3, 2009
Size: ??~0.50mm (est)
Found on underside of piece of pressure treated pine board. Size is an estimate because I picked them up scanning with my camera lens at 6.5x. I'm guessing that these are immatures of some elongate bodied collembola species.

Proisotoma minuta
A juvenile specimen, indeed.
This IDy is just an educated guess, given the elongated eyecluster and clublike 4th antennal segment.

Thanks Frans...
I'm going to move this to the P. minuta guide page. In the meantime I will go out and try to get some higher magnification images.
